View appointments
You can display appointments by day or by week. When you drill down on an appointment, you can display appointment details in addition to patient details.
The following steps assume that DoctorAccess displays Messenger initially, by default. To change the default so that DoctorAccess always displays Scheduler initially, see General setting.
Note: While functionality for Scheduler is the same for the mobile and full site, there are some differences in the UI. For differences in Scheduler between the two sites, see Mobile and full site differences.
To view appointments by day:
- From the menu bar, select Scheduler.
DoctorAccess displays the schedule for the day.
What does the above example of the calendar for the day show?The appointment calendar shows:
- The patients associated with the appointments
- The appointments are scheduled in the Main clinic and in the Hygiene clinic.
- Both patients have confirmed their appointments.
- Patient Francesca Domingo is an emergency patient indicated by the red label.
- Patient Patricia Walton needs an exam indicated by the appointment indicator
.
- A light pink background that represents the appointment discipline (in this example, Perio).
- Overlapping appointments.
- The student's clinic time exceptions (lunch hour and Pediatric rotation).
- (Optional) To display background colors on your appointments, see Scheduler setting.
- (Optional ) To view a different day, either:

to go to the previous or next day on the calendar. - Select

The number highlighted with an orange background indicates today's date while the number highlighted with a blue background indicates the day you're currently viewing.
To view appointments by day:

To view appointments by week:
- From the menu bar, select Scheduler.
By default, DoctorAccess displays today's appointment schedule.
- To select your week of scheduled appointments, select the Week tab.
Depending on your default setting, your week of appointments may begin on Sunday or Monday. To change the first day of your working week, see Scheduler setting.
DoctorAccess displays the schedule for the current week.
What does the above example of the weekly calendar show?The appointment calendar shows:
- Patients associated with appointments.
- The clinic name for each appointment.
- Appointment chair details.
- Overlapping appointments.
- Clinic time exceptions such as lunch times and rotations.
- Appointment statuses, eg., checked out, confirmed, unconfirmed.
- The time of an appointment.
- The appointment background colors/labels for a discipline.
- Appointment indicators; in this case
indicates that the patient needs a hygiene exam.

When you drill down on an appointment, you can view:
- Appointment details
- Treatment details
- Appointment notes
To display background colors in your appointments, see Scheduler setting.
To view appointment details:
- From Scheduler, select an appointment.
The Appointment and Patient Details page appears.
In this example, the Treatments tab displays a list of planned treatments for the patient G. Pedron. You can drill down on a treatment for more detail.
Note: The Send a Message link is displayed only if the patient has a PatientAccess account.
- To view more details about a treatment, select a treatment.
- To view notes associated with the appointment, select the Appt Notes tab.
To view appointment details:
- From Scheduler, select an appointment.
The Appointment Details page appears.
Note: The Send a Message link is displayed only if the patient has a PatientAccess account.
- To view appointment treatments, flick up to scroll to the Treatments tab.
- To view more details about a treatment, select a treatment.
- To view appointment notes, select the Appt Notes tab.
Depending on your dental institution, you can view a patient’s chart number, photo, date of birth, address, preferred language, and the reason for the appointment. Other information includes patient alerts, for example, a Patient is allergic to nuts.
To view patient details:
- From Scheduler, select an appointment.
The Appointment and Patient Details page appears. The example below shows two tabs: Alerts and More Info.
Note: The Send a Message link is displayed only if the patient has a PatientAccess account.
- (If available) To view additional information on the patient, select the More Info tab.
To view Patient Details:
- From Scheduler, select an appointment.
The Appointment Details page appears.
Note: The Send a Message link is displayed only if the patient has a PatientAccess account.
- (If available) To view patient details including patient alerts, select anywhere in the patient photo area.
- (If available) To view more information on a patient, select the More Info tab.
